The Centre for Culture in Lublin is one of the most active cultural institutions in the Lubli region. A wide scope of its activities covers the preparation and presentation of artistic projects, workshop work and activities in the field of education and the spreading of culture. 




The Centre for Culture means theatre: several theatre groups gathered in the Central Theatre create an interesting alternative to the theatres with determined repertoire and form that function in Lublin. The Central Theatre assembles the activities of the Provisorium Theatre, Kompania “Teatr”, Lublin Dance Theatre, MAAT Project Theatre, InVitro Prapremier Stage and neTTheatre. Lublin’s Artistic Salon, which also operates within the Centre for Culure, invites the most recognized Polish and international theatre artists.


The Centre for Culture means film:
 Kinoteatr Project organizes numerous screenings, reviews and presentations of off-cinema in several thematic series, seeking to animate in this manner the off cinema movement in our city and region.


The Centre for Culture means visual arts:
 the Biała Gallery has been working here continuously since 1985 presenting phenomena and trends in contemporary art in various forms and shapes.


The Centre for Culture means education:
 The Department of Cultural Education promotes education for culture and through culture, it gathers young people, students and adults. The main objective is to introduce young audience into conscious and active participation in cultural activities. This aim is implemented through the organization on workshops, meetings and projects. Another unit which works in the Centre is Dance Group “Rhythm”.


The Centre for Culture means socio-artistic activities
: Studio of Socially Engaged Art “Rewiry” tries to convince that culture and art can become a mechanism of social change and have a real impact on the lives of the city’s residents. Studio of Cultural Heritage Promotion, in turn, ensures the spreading and promotion of chosen cultural phenomena among the residents of Lublin and promotion of Lublin, Lublin region and Poland abroad.


The Centre for Culture means festivals:
 the most significant Lublin’s theatre, film, music and educational festivals are organized here, among them: Theatre Confrontations, Bitter-Sweet Theatre Festival, International Dance Theatre Meetings, Lublin Jazz Festival, Lublin Gala of Independent Film “Golden Anteaters” and Freaked Out Films Festival, Young Stage, Multicultural Lublin and many more.

 

The Centre for Culture is listed in the register of cultural institutions kept by the Municipality of Lublin, with its seat in a late-baroque complex of the former monastery of the Order of the Visitation, located in the city centre. Between 2009 and 2013 a major renovation of this unique building took place. Thanks to the financial support received from the European Union’s Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment the Centre for Culture has gained modern facilities in a historic space.
