What are the hospital/surgery waiting lists?
The patient who, on the day of reporting, cannot obtain a specialist service under outpatient health care /health care benefits in a hospital, is put on the waiting list by the provider:
- when entering the patient's data on the waiting list and providing him or her with a written information in this respect about the set date, the clinic /hospital undertakes to grant a specific service;
- the patient may not sign up on several lists at the same time for the same advice or treatment – one referral allows to sign up on one waiting list with one provider;
- the following medical criteria govern the order of the admission of patients, except for the patients in emergency conditions:
- "emergency case" - if it is necessary to provide an urgent service owing to the dynamics of the disease process and the possibility of sudden health condition deterioration or a significant reduction of the chance to recover;
- "stable case" when the patient can wait for the health service;
- in the event of the patient's health condition deterioration, indicating the need for a service earlier than agreed – the patient informs the provider about this fact, in order to assess medical indications for an earlier service.
- in the event when it is impossible to observe the date of a specialist's advice or admission to hospital designated for the patient – health care centre is obliged to inform the patient about the changed date of service and its reasons in every possible way.
