What is voluntary health insurance?

The lack of health insurance may become a reason for high costs of health care benefits provided in the event of an illness or the need obtain immediate medical treatment. 

Foreigners not holding any title to insurance have a possibility to conclude voluntary health insurance agreement. 

In order to conclude voluntary health insurance agreement, a foreigner must visit a Fund Branch at the place of residence. At the Branch one has to fill in an "Application for health insurance in the National Health Fund". Within 7 days from signing the agreement, one has to turn up at Social Security (ZUS) in order to apply for health insurance.
