Who is entitled to health care services?

Those entitled to healthcare services under health insurance coverage are:


1. citizens of member states of the European Union and EFTA (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) or citizens of the Swiss Confederation not subject to mandatory health insurance on other grounds, if they have a place of residence on the territory of Poland;

2. foreign nationals staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland on the basis of: a visa entitling to employment, leave to remain for a fixed period excluding leave granted on the basis of Article 53a par. 2 of the Act on Foreign Nationals of 13th June 2003 (Dziennik Ustaw [Journal of Laws] of 2006. No. 234, item 1694 with later amendments), leave to settle, leave to remain for a long-term resident of the European Community or tolerated residence permit; or to persons with a refugee status granted in Poland, or those under supplementary protection or temporary protection on its territory;

3. foreign undergraduate, graduate and and doctoral students studying in Poland as well as university graduates on obligatory internship in Poland, with no EU or EFTA citizenship;

4. foreign members of religious orders and seminarists at higher clerical and theological seminaries, postulants, novices and junior monks and their counterparts, with no European Union, EFTA or Swiss Confederation citizenship, staying within the territory of Poland on the basis of a visa, leave to settle, leave to remain for a long-term resident of the European Community or tolerated residence permit; or to persons with a refugee status granted in Poland, or those under supplementary protection or temporary protection on its territory;

5. foreign nationals on adaptation internship;

6. foreign nationals taking Polish language courses and preparatory Polish language courses, with no EU or EEA citizenship;

7. foreign nationals with a Polish Card.
