Newsletter 14th November 2011
It seems the Golden Polish Autumn has said her goodbyes and it's time to brace up for some nippy weather and cloudy skies. Take a look at what you might want to do this week tucked safely and warmly indoors.ATTENTION: There's been a report of a rape attempt at the UMCS campus the other night, so PLEASE ladies, be extra careful after dark and gentlemen, do walk your female friends back home at night.

AT HOMO FABER
After 2.5 years of its existence, the Welcome To Lublin project is drawing to a close (although our activities in this area as well as your interest in it still continue). We know that many of you are already learning Polish or are yet to start doing it. We'd like to help you with this. Our proposal is Polish Lessons In Tandem. The idea is that somebody teaches Polish in exchange for Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, Turkish etc. Homo Faber will help you to organise the pairs as well as provide space for your meetings. If you're interested, please write to ad@hf.org.pl, stating which language you'd like to teach in exchange for Polish.
CULTURAL NEWS
ART EXHIBITION
Bruno4ever: festival opening
14th November (Mon), 6 p.m.
Public Library, ul. Narutowicza 4, gallery, 2nd floor (map)
The festival commemorates the 69th anniversary of the death of Bruno Schulz, one of the most original Polish writers whose unique brand of magic realism is as bewitching as it was several decades ago. A Polish Jew, he was killed by a Nazi officer in the streets of the town of Drohobycz, leaving two volumes of prose: The Cinnamon Shops and Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass, and a collection of fine drawings. One of his stories, "The Street of Crocodiles", has been made into an animated film by the Brothers Quay.
The festival events include lectures, plays and art exhibitions. If you think your Polish is good enough to appreciate events based on spoken word, you can find the whole programme at http://kultura.lublin.eu/wydarzenia,1,913.html?locale=pl_PL
