3rd June 2011, Lublin

Hellofolks – International Festival of New Folk Music

bands:

Livintroll – Belarus

Morhana – Poland

Hollóének Hungarica – Hungary

The Livintroll musicians describe their own work as “Rock'n'Troll”; it's a unique blend of folk-metal, funk and rock enriched with sounds of instruments of the bygone times, such as the Belarusian bagpipes, zhaleika and zither, mingled with electric guitars.

Morhana is a band playing folk metal, mixing both heavy and melodious sounds and striking a balance between folk music and metal that's at once rough and full of character. The Morhana musicians draw their folk inspirations from various parts of the world, making use of both fast and lively Breton motifs as well as melancholy, melodious songs of strictly Slavic flavour.

Hollóének Hungarica

A passionate search for medieval music records, not only Hungarian, carried out through contacts with musicians and instrument makers from various countries, especially Germany, resulted in the birth of Hollóének Hungarica. The band was established in 2002 in Debrecen, on the initiative of Lajos Bálint. Initially, the group's repertoire comprised medieval love ballads and songs from the Carmina Burana collection, played on bouzouki, flutes and violins.
