Where assistance is given to states of emergency?
In emergency cases health services are provided without a referral.
In the event of sudden illnesses, the patient has the right to obtain medical assistance in any health care centre which has a contract for the provision of health services with the Fund (medical advice and possible diagnostic tests are free of charge).
If, on the other hand, the patient decides to obtain medical advice in a health care which does not have a contract for the provision of services with the Fund, he or she must be ready to pay fees for provided services as well as possible diagnostic tests.
Only in emergency cases the patient has the right to the reimbursement of costs by the Fund for necessary health services, provided by a doctor or a health care centre which does not have a contract with the Fund, if he or she proves that it has not been possible to get any alternative assistance.
